I am a psychotherapist and perinatal counselor in private practice in Portland, Maine. After years in healthcare settings, I have established a private practice and work primarily with adults. I have always been drawn to working with individuals who are going through stressful life circumstances and transitions, such as family and relationship planning, parenthood, chronic and acute illness and conditions, job and location changes, and phase of life challenges.

Working together with me is partnering with me. I offer a comfortable and safe space, a sense of humor, and a tailored approach to therapy that will incorporate your unique circumstances, past experiences and insights. I strongly believe that one of the key elements to therapeutic growth is developing a strong and trusting connection. I pull from a variety of approaches in practice and provide talk-based therapy.

Being in private practice has allowed me to try to find the balance in my life that I often encourage clients to find in their own. Balance to me means that I imperfectly try to do the following: check work email once per day, read read read, commute by foot or by bike, journal, create, find time to build friendships and community. I am a parent of two children and proudly (and painfully) raised them abroad in Norway with my partner for four years prior to returning to my home state, Maine.

Ellie makes you feel very comfortable when you are with her. She also incorporates you into finding the answer.”
